For over 10 years my wife and I worked in the consulting industry where we helped large businesses grow and be successful. About 4 years ago, we decided to venture out and start our own consulting company. Like you, we were now "business owners". We thought we had it made.

It didn’t take long to realize we were still working 80 plus hours per week. Yes, we were the ones getting paid FIRST and making a decent living, but we didn’t have a life. If we stopped working, our business stopped producing. Ultimately, the business we created and owned, really owned us! We were still trading time for dollars, we hated it, and we knew we needed to get our lives back.

We knew we needed to adjust our current business model or start looking for an alternative. A model where we could truly leverage our time while creating multiple streams of income. And we knew we did NOT want the traditional brick and mortar business. We wanted a business where we could work around our lifestyle and have complete control over our lives.

As successful consultants who understood business and technology, doing the due diligence to find out what we needed to do was the first step. We were immediately bombarded with sales pitches and business "opportunities". We researched many of these opportunities and even tried a few. We went to TONS of training courses and immersed ourselves in finding THE business that felt right and appealed to us on many levels.

We looked at traditional network marketing and MLM companies but realized fairly quickly that the techniques they were endorsing, and even teaching, were outdated. If you are within the 10% who currently have or had a Network Marketing business, then you were probably told to make a list and call your family and friends. Did you enjoy it? We weren’t interested in calling Aunt Sally or having home parties.

We also dove into the world of real estate investing. We learned the power behind multiple strategies and how to effectively use them in different economic cycles.

While most of these opportunities and strategies were effective and worked for many people, none of these models were the automated business system with leverage that we were looking for. Remember, that was our ultimate goal. So now we had spent a lot of money, still had zero free time and were still stuck working long hours in our J.O.B.!
